Cely Suarez Nathalie

Nathalie Cely Suarez

Competitiveness, private sector development and economic inclusion expert

​Nathalie Cely Suárez is a leading competitiveness, private sector development and economic inclusion expert. She holds a degree in economics from the Catholic University of Guayaquil and a Master’s in Public Administration and a Diploma in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. In the past, she served as the Ambassador of Ecuador to the United States. She has also served as Ecuador’s Coordinating Minister of Social Development and as Ecuador’s Coordinating Minister of Production, Employment and competitiveness where she headed the Production Policy Council and was responsible for the design and implementation of the Agenda of Competitiveness, Employment and Trade, as well as Infrastructure. She has also been working for various international organization and foundations and she is the author of several articles on economics-related topics.

Davies Rob

Rob Davies

Minister of Trade and Industry
South Africa

​Rob Davies is the Minister of trade and industry of South Africa. He holds an Honours degree in Economics from Rhodes University, a Masters in International Relations from the University of Southampton in the UK and a Doctorate in Political Studies from the University of Sussex. In the past, he served as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committees of Finance and Trade and Industry as well as the Constitutional Assembly Sub-Committee responsible for drafting Charter 13 (Finance). He was also Professor and co-Director of the Centre of Southern African Studies at the University of the Western Cape and before that Professor Auxiliar at the Centro de Estudos Africanos at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique. He oversaw the development and implementation of South Africa’s Industrial Policy Action Plans and steered the participation of the country in important trade relations (e.g. BRICS, AGOA and the Tripartite SADC-COMESA-EAC Free Trade Area).

Kozul-Wright Richard

Richard Kozul-Wright


​Mr. Richard Kozul-Wright is the Director of the Globalization and Development Strategies Division in UNCTAD. He has worked at the United Nations in both New York and Geneva. He holds a Ph.D in economics from the University of Cambridge UK and has published widely on economic issues including, inter alia, in the Economic Journal, the Cambridge Journal of Economics, The Journal of Development Studies, and the Oxford Review of Economic Policy. His latest book is the Resistible Rise of Market Fundamentalism (with Paul Rayment) and he has also edited volumes on Transnational Corporations and the Global Economy, Economic Insecurity and Development, Securing Peace, Climate Protection and Development, and Industrial Policy.

​Lutchmeenaraidoo Seetanah is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius. He is a Doctor Honoris Causa of Dauphine University (Paris) and he also holds a Master in Business Administration at Aix-Marseilles University and Post Graduate qualifications in Export Marketing at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Marseilles. In the past he served as Minister of Finance and Economic Development and Deputy Prime Minster. He was also Chairman of the State Bank Mauritius, Executive Chairman of Net Mauritius and President of the National Steering Committee on the Offshore Sector. He has been one of the main architects of the economic reforms that accompanied the economic success of the country during the late 1990s and the 2000s.

Pezzini Mario

Mario Pezzini

OECD Development Centre

​Mario Pezzini is Director of the OECD Development Centre. Moreover, he is also currently the Acting Director of the OECD Development Co-operation Directorate. before joining the Development Centre in 2010, Mario Pezzini held several senior management positions in the OECD, where he has been working since 1995. Prior to joining the OECD, Mr. Pezzini was Professor in Industrial Economics at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris as well as in US and Italian Universities. Also, Mr. Pezzini served as an Advisor in the field of economic development, industrial organisation and regional economics in international organisations and think tanks (e.g. ILO, UNIDO, European Commission and Nomisma in Italy). Mr. Pezzini started his career in the Government office of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
